What’s the movie all about? It tells a story about Rebecca Bloomwood who is apparently on budget yet she can’t stop herself from shopping. Her credit card debts keep on piling up and the bank officer keeps on haunting her so her roommate and her have to always find an excuse. There is one fine day when she really wants to buy a green scarf yet all of her credit cards already reached their limits. On which day, she meets Luke Brandon who gives her $20 and she has to lie to him that the scarf is going to be a gift.
Becky wants to apply for a position at a popular fashion magazine, but there is already someone filled up the position, so the receptionist suggests her applying at a finance magazine under the same publisher. There she meets again with Luke Brandon. Lies keep on going one after another until one day Luke finds out that she has tons of debts when she is indeed the one that gets his magazine to be popular due to her simple articles. She is in the verge of losing her love and her friend. Nonetheless, she managed to survive somehow.
The movie was really funny from the beginning. She seriously has no self control over buying stuff! lol. Can you imagine her talking to the manequins? Haha. Despite her roommate trying to ask her to stop shopping, she still can’t do that as she always finds an excuse to buy something. She doesn’t even throw most of her stuffs out. She just pressed them and keep the m in her closet. The pressed closed bursts out anyhow and flying here and there haha. Here’s another one, during her so-called shopping rehabilitation program, she ends up motivating the other shopaholics to shop even more :-D. Later on, I found out that the first instructor is indeed a shopaholic too. The best part was when Becky pays off all of her debts with…… coins. Haha!
The plot is simple and full of comedy. Eventhough my date kept telling me it’s a stupid movie, I don’t really care :P. Who cares when it could make me laugh anyway?
However, if you already read the book, you’d find that there are some differences and adaptations. Oh well, it’s always the case when the movie is based on a novel. It is still pretty funny though 🙂
My rating: 4/5
