I know I have been disappearing for a month! I truly am glad to be back yay! I seriously did not have time to check out some stuffs when I was back in Indonesia as my trip was basically a massive culinary trip :P. I have not lost the extra pounds I gained during the holiday. I also brought along sun spots! Nope, I did not get tanned, I got sun spots -_- (I played at the beach in my parents’ hometown when we all were there!)
Anyhoo, to kick start a new post from a long hiatus, I decided to take a peek at Definite Cosmetics when I was waiting for my sister playing bowling (the monster is addicted to it!). At first I only wanted to have a look at MAC Colour Craft collection as I have been noticing the hype on this particular collection. Strangely enough, I was not attracted to most of the stuffs (or maybe it was because my wallet was already stick thin!). When I first checked it out at MAC website a month ago, I planned to check out the Marbleized Lipglass because they looked funky enough :P. But blimey, when I swatched them, it sort of turning me off. Again, the usual abandonment from the SA did not help at all. So I decided to just roam around until I saw Definite Cosmetics store and the big board with huge writing to get a complimentary 10-minute makeover. Aye, that was a call for me of course :D. For those who never heard of Definite Cosmetics before, it is a makeup line manufactured in Italy but assembled over here in Malaysia.
When I was there, the only SA available was doing a makeover for another customer. She kindly asked me whether I would like to get the free makeover or not and if I did, I might have to wait for few minutes as the other SA was having her dinner. She was pretty friendly, so I thought browsing around the store would not do any harm. After she was done with the customer, she quickly attended me and started the free makeover. I noticed that there was little hard selling over here (which I kind of like) although she did mention which product she was going to use on me. She even told me few tricks to conceal my horrible dark circle which she noticed after my previous makeup was removed. Along the way, she applied the products on half of my face and she let me played around with the products for the other half of my face.
After the makeover session, I managed to pick up some tips she gave me. You might have known some of the tips listed below, yet I hope newbies out there (like me!) can find useful š
– To make the eyeshadow color more pop out, use eyeliner of the same color as a base. Alternatively, you can use any white eyeshadow.
– Always apply the color nearer to your lashline and blend it upwards towards your crease.
– No eyeshadow base? Use thin layer of concealer (preferable liquid concealer).
– If you have mild dark circle, applying another thin layer of foundation should do the work. If it is really dark, apply peach-toned corrector followed by another corrector which matches your skin tone and then work up a layer of concealer. Do this only if you aim for maximum coverage. If you prefer it to look more natural, just apply a light reflecting concealer. The best way is getting enough sleep of course :P. However, if the dark circle is inherited, to be on the safe side, keep a concealer that matches your skin tone.
– Nothing too light or too dark will look good, so please ensure you get a good match for your foundation and concealer. Ask the SA, they should oblige you (most of the times).
– If you do not like to line your lower lashline or not used to it (like me), try to line only a quarter of your outer lower lashline and connect it to your upper lashline. Line the water line starting from the inner quarter to outer quarter of your lower lashline to complete the look. It is easy and gives you a not-so-dramatic look teehee!
Some of the stuffs from Definite Cosmetics that are worth checking out are their liquid foundation, liquid concealer, corrector palette and eyeshadows (names are to be updated once my internet is not so lagging!). Their liquid foundation is water-based and feels so light, catering from sheer to medium coverage. As for the corrector palette and concealer, they are pretty good if you need a good concealing as the creamy corrector blends easily and the concealer offers a good coverage. The concealer feels similar to that of I Nuovi’s. Their eyeshadows.. what can I say? I love them! They are amazingly easy to blend and the color pay off is pretty good too (albeit there are some eyeshadows that did not give me a good color pay off). Unfortunately, they still do not have a lot of color to choose on. They do have a lot of selection for lipstick. It is creamy and very pigmented, not my cup of tea but for those who like their lippies pigmented, do check them out :). One thing I would definitely not recommend is their liquid eyeliner. It was very thick and taking forever to dry. Can you imagine the SA had to use a tiny fan to allow it to dry?? It was a pain to remove as well and the worst part is… it is flaking.
Anyway, I did not bring my camera that day as I did not plan to check out the store, so I did not take any pictures :(. I only managed snap a picture of my eye makeup done by the SA that day. I kinda like the smokey green eyes she did on me ^_^
Ah yeah, did I mention that I also make a little purchase? š The content of the bag will be revealed one by one as I intend to review them one by one, so stay tuned!
Yay! You’re back! Missed you sweety!
You’re makeover looks cute! Sounds like you had a blast. Their bag and logo looks realy adorable. Concealer never works for me as an eye base since it creases on me. Sad. This sounds like a great cosmetics brand, too bad they don’t have it here, haha.
As with Colour Craft, the hype was pretty much because of the MSF overload, lol. Honestly, I was disappointed – especially the eyeshadows. Some were a bit chalky in my opinion. The MSFs didn’t even have beautiful veining like the older MSFs. The MSF blushes looked so much better – I got Improvise. I’m planning to get Porcelain Pink and Triple Fusion soon. The only gloss I liked from that collection was Miss Marble.
Hi Dee,
Glad to be back as well š
Thanks, I did have a little fun hehe. It depends actually on which concealer you are using. For some weird reason, ELF tone correcting concealer works fine with me. However, for some it does not work at all. I don’t think Definit’e is a very established brand too as I just heard of it like last year? Nevertheless, it seems to be going pretty okay, so why not giving it a try? š
Ah yeah the MSFs.. but I’m getting none š Yeah, I initially wanted to get Miss Marble too, but after sometimes.. I changed my mind. lol Besides, I had no more cash left haha.
i agree that definite cosmetics MUA are really good
i have the make over pass too
worth going but they will be advertising and asking you to buy their products abit
alil to exp for me so its hard for me to walk out empty handed
their tips are really handy!
The other one who went for dinner was a little pushy (from what my friends had experienced). Oh well, I guess they also need to make a sale isn’t it? As long as they are not pushy, I still can tolerate it a little š
Yes, I like the fact that they shared some tips with us ^_^
Welcome back, we missed you Shuu!
Wah so did bring home some Definit’s stuffs, haha! That’s what scare me, when the SA is all so nice and friendly… luckily there’s no Definit store nearby or else I’d be the innocent victim. I was yesterday, at the Shu Uemura counter when both SAs were superbly nice I decided to ‘invest’ in the LE Kamon Girl Cleansing Oil.
Hiya Hanna!
LOL! Pushy SAs tend to make us go away, isn’t it?
Hey but Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil is good. I’ve been using it for the longest time and still love it albeit the hefty price tag *SIGH*
Definite cosmetics! A brand I have been wanting to try out but too lazy to drive all the to Sunway Pyramid. Can’t wait to see what are your hauls from Definite and waiting for your reviews on them. š
Hi Vonvon!
Hopefully they’d open more counters š So far, I only know one in Sunway Pyramid and another one at Parkson Sungei Wang..^_^
Ohhh….the counter in Sungei Wang is in Parkson is it? No wonder I couldn’t find it when I was there few days ago…;)
Yes, the counter is in Parkson š Well maybe next time when you’re around you could check them out š
